🌍 Coffee Industry News – November Update
We’re seeing some encouraging developments in the speciality coffee sector, which are good news for independent roasters and passionate coffee drinkers alike.
-
According to recent data, global coffee production for 2025/26 is projected to rise by about 2.5% to a record ~178.7 million bags, thanks in large part to growth in Robusta output. Read more at CoffeeBI.com
-
Specifically, production in major origins looks promising: Brazil is forecast to grow slightly and Vietnam is expected to see a ~6.9% increase to a four-year high. Read more at CoffeeBI.com
-
In addition: Indonesia (a major origin for speciality coffees) exported 206,700 tons in the first half of 2025, showing how small-holder farmers are gaining greater export access.
- More broadly, the market for speciality and single-origin coffees continues to deepen, as consumers seek distinct flavours, origin stories and higher quality. Read more at Dairy News Today
- An interesting shift: the less-common variety Robusta is gaining traction in speciality circles as producers explore higher-temperature-tolerant crops and new processing methods to broaden flavour profiles and farming resilience. Read more at VPM
News Flash: We have been cupping Robusta coffees and have found a Premium High Grown Robusta from India that we like. We are looking to stock this soon.
- While challenges remain - weather, logistics and prices - the overall trend of growth and innovation gives us reason to be optimistic as we head into the festive season and on into 2026.
We hope you have enjoyed this update, and here’s to great coffee and a warm, flavourful November ahead.
Warm regards,
William
